What I think of the AG institute

I throughly enjoyed the AG institute because we got to do so many things. I learned about the Japanese internment camps, which i didnt know there was before.I created an educational blog and got touse it to tell people what I think about many different issues including the movement of the Cherokee and the slavery that their used to be in North Carolina before the civil war. My favorite activity was probably the mock trial because we had to do reaserch, read our evidence, organize the evidence, come up with roles and actually present all this imformation. I also learned about the trail of tears( the road the goverment promised to build so the former residents of the fontana area could visit their loved ones, but never built it.) which I had never heard of before this institute. It was awsome!!!

What I think about racial profiling.

In my eyes racial profiling is not right, even during times of war or national security threat. I don't find racial profiling right because that's blaming a whole race or religion for something that one person or a group of people did. The imprisonment of the Japanese after the bombing of pearl Harbor the racism against Muslims and Pakistanians after September 11 is a perfect example of racial profiling. In professor Kant's ( a famous philosophers ) eyes, actions like these would not be considered right or good. it would not be considered right or good because the government say their trying to protect this race or religion but they in fact have an alteriar motive (another reason to do whatever your doing). The Government really just want to protect American citizens from these so called "enemy aliens".Even the Cherokee that used to live in Georgia were taken out of their own land because the government wanted more land to build on and mine for gold once they found out there is gold their. AND WHAT WAS THE GOVERNMENTS EXCUSE? that if the Cherokee weren't removed from their land that they were going to be killed by the Georgians.PEOPLE, OPEN YOUR EYES. These people weren't the ones who bombed Pearl Harbor or crashed into the twin Trade Centers. These are AMERICAN CITIZENS and HUMAN BEINGS were talking about here. We are all the same in the inside people.

The top map shows the percentage of slaves that used to be in Buncombe, compared two the bottom map, showing Raleigh , that has had a higher percentage of slavery. Why? I think it is because some crops could grow a lot better in Raleigh.

This is a map of the Cherokee land before they were removed from their land. The Cherokee were taken to a reservation in Oklahoma. Their land was sold out among the Georgians who thought the land had some gold on it. The Cherokee were afraid of being moved so they tried to be like everybody else so they would be considered American citizens.
